Project Life 2012: Week 31-33

There were a lot of pictures for Week 31- we went on a vacation! I tried very had to take lots of interesting pictures, so I used some Close to my heart Flip flaps, a great addition to your Project Life supplies. I also used several of the stamps from the CTMH special It's Your Day Stamp set. Today is the very last day to get your own Stamp set.

Week 32 and 33 are very plain, not only were there not many pictures. It takes almost 2 weeks to catch up from vacation.(Also I am missing a picture, my Selphy Photo pirinter jammed, and I cant seem to make it work now *insert sad face*)

Avonlea Paper Cone

The Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge has it all!! I cut this wonderful cone (I used the fit to page feature and it cut at 8 3/4") for a great decor item. Right now I have some really large acorns from a Burr Oak tree in it, but I think it will be a great year round place to add seasonal things.
I used the Avonlea paper pack and paired it with some vintage sheet music. I added a piece of ribbon from my stash as well. For the flower I stamped the image from the Love Blooms stamp set several time on brown tissue paper and then inked the edges to make them looked very distressed.

Friends make Memories

I have a special card to show you today using a special stamp. Back in July I made a project for the Operation Smile Auction at the CTMH convention, as a special gift to those who were asked to make a project we were give a stamp set from Jeanette Lynton's personal collection. Below is a picture of the stamp set that can not be purchased. I have a couple of these and I treasure them so much!! Not only did I feature that great heart stamp and sentiment, but for this card I used some of the grey felt rub-ons. I used the flourish and if you look close I used a boarder strip just under the bakers twine.

Oh Happy Day! Wedding Card

A few weeks ago I went to a Bridal Shower for a friend. I had picked up a Target gift card for my gift and I wanted create a fun card to give it in.
The CTMH Cricut Cartridge Artiste has some great gift card holds to cut out, but I went with this slider card. All I did was use a few glue dots to attach the card to the back of the slider. I thought the sentiment "Oh Happy Day" was perfect for a wedding card. That sentiment comes from the Avonlea Card Workshop on the go-a great combo pack to make 15 cards!!

It's Your Day Project 3: Mini Album

I am a sucker for a mini album, especially a MINI mini album!! This little guy was cut at 2 3/4" using the New Cartridge from Close to My Heart-Artiste. Yep-the cartridge cuts the cover and all the pages at any size that you want!! I thought I would make a cute little "Story of Us" book using the stamps from the It's Your Day Special.  The album has a great wrap around cover, and to keep it closed I used one of the stamp images on foam tape so the flap tucks right under it!  I used some of the CTMH seam binding ribbon to bind the album and pages.
Before I put together the album I snapped a few pictures of the pages I created using the It's Your Day Stamp set!

Book Review: Two for the Dough

Stephanie Plum is back in this follow up book, Two for the Dough. This time she is looking for Kenny Mancuso, who happens to be Joe Morrelli's cousin. So that means that the good looking and very funny Joe is also in this book

This time Grandma Mazur is her sidekick, and boy is she funny. Some of the best parts of this book include Grandma and some intresting body parts from Stiva mortuary, as she looks for Kenny.
Stephanie is still not the best at Bounty hunting, but she is getting better at it.  She also seems to be driving an old car again in this book, this time a 1950 Buick, know as big blue, check out the car.

I enjoyed this book, but now since I have seen the movie for the 1st book,  when I read I see  Katherine Heiglas Stephanie. These books are great easy reads and I like to stick an easy book in between some of the deeper historical fiction I like so much.  I'm definitely going to stick with Stephanie Plum!

It's Your Day Project 2

I think that the It's Your Day Stamp Set is best use for Scrapbooking (and since I am a Project Lifer I think it is PERFECT for that) doesn't mean you can't use it for a card or 2! I was super excited to see that cut little bicycle on the set so I choose it for my card. If you are wondering how I got the brown mountain and the blue sky here's how: I used a scrap of cardstock and tore it; I then use the masking technique and a sponge to get the color. It's really simple and gives a great effect!

Now on to those great strips of cardstock in the middle of the card. To get the multicolored look I used the new alcohol markers from CTMH. After I stamped the main image (stars and chevron pattern) I cam back and added hints of color using the markers just following the pattern of the image.
Now don't you want this stamp of your very own? Head over to my website and get it today! Be sure to Join the August "I want to WIN" party at the bottom of the page for even more great chances to win!

It's all in the Wrap!

To me 1/2 of getting a gift is the package it is in! Althought if someone gave me $100 cash in a used McDonald's sack I would still love the cash, but if $100 came in this bag it would be so much more enjoyable! For this gift sack I used a plain white lunch sack with a few upgrades! I added one of the Grey Felt Rub-ons to the sack. They are so easy to use and give a great look. I made a gift tag using the Pirouette stamp set. Using foam tape I layered it up for a dramatic look. I tied the tag on with some the awesome silver polka dot ribbon.

Book Review: Through A Glass Darkly

If you like Historical Fiction, then you will really enjoy this book. This is the story of a young girl Barbara- who is 15 and set to marry Roger, Lord Devane. Barbara's idea of life after marriage and the reality of it are very different. In the 1700 you married for property and title, Barbara and Roger's marriage was no different, of course Barbara married for Love.We go through her journey of trying to make Roger love her.  The author does a great job of developing the characters and the storyline is very intriguing. Besides Barbara and Roger there are several other great characters in this book-Barbara's grandmother is very old and ill, but she is full of energy and runs this family with cunning and wit. Barbara's mother, Diana is also a very interesting character-one I didn't really care for. She is just evil and self centered in my opinion. This book has a very surprising twist, in fact a shocker!!
This book is very sad at times, but it was great to see how the family relied on God during those times.

There is a follow up book, and it's on my short list of books to read!

Cameo Card

This card features so many new things. 1st that great cameo. It comes from the Brocade Assortment for the Avonlea collection. It also has these 2 tiny keys that are almost too cute to use. Next up is that great Rosette ribbon it is so beautiful. The flowers are small which makes them great for card projects. Now take a look at that paper rose. I made it using the Artiste Cricut Cartridge. This new cartridge features several new flower shapes! Lastly I used the wonderful August Stamp of the Month- Baroque Borders. That corner stamp is just so elegant and goes perfectly with the Avonlea collection.

Family Ties Scrapbook Layout

Today I want to show you a scrapbook layout that I put together using the Stamp of the Month-Broque Borders and the newest publication from CTMH-Make it From Your Heart. I love this book, mostly because it is only $7.95 and it is full go great layout patterns as well as card patterns-what a deal!! Below in the close up photo you can see that I used the corner stamp-I also used the new ink line from CTMH- Slate Pigment ink Look at how bold the color appears, it makes me want to stamp that image on everything!

Pin It button

For all you crazy Pinterest addicts like me I have added the "Pin It" button at the bottom of all my post to make it easy on you!

Avonlea Dress Form

Today I have a great project to show you! Using the new CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge I cut out this dress form in Chip board. Below you can see the my Cricut machine loaded with chipboard-note** you need the deep cut blade to cut chipboard.

I also cut out the same size dress form in the great Avonlea patten paper. I wanted to darken the stand, so I removed it from the pattern paper piece and then used a Chocolate ink page to color the bottom of the chipboard.

After I finished decorating the whole thing it was a bit heavy, so I used a bamboo skewer and hot glue to stabilize the back!

I used some Liquid glass to highlight the dots in the pattern paper, and then foam tape to layer the main image for a great 3d look-
