Favorite Things

Time to share a few things that I am loving right now-These new smells from Bath and Body works. I bought a dozen of these little babies, and I have them everywhere-purse, kitchen, car and work. I only wish they came in a 1gallon size!

Roasted Almond Butter-It is so yummy. Most of the time I am just eating it right out of the tub, but I have put it on toast or with an apple. It is kinda expensive-but if you use it a little at a time it is so worth it.

This purse-from 31 gifts! I have lots of their stuff, but right now I am loving this bag. It's just the right size. I can add my planner, kindle and all the other stuff I tote around with room to spare! If you don't have a 31 consultant-go here. http://www.mythirtyone.com/loving31/

Below is a picture of how I created the felt butterfly. I used the Close to My Heart stamp set Fill in the blank stamped it right on the felt (cheep kind from Wal-Mart) and cut it out!

Tissue Paper Challenge:Mother's Day Paper Corsage

I read several of the Paper Crafts blog, they are full of great inspiration. Last week on the Moxie Fab blog, Cath issued a challenge to create a project using tissue paper. In honor of Mother's Day I thought I would make a corsage that Mom could wear to church on Sunday!

1st I cut a strip of tissue paper, and ran it through the cuttlebug using some flower die cuts.

I left the tissue paper folded and cut through several layers.

Next up I sewed some small black beads to the center of each flower.

Then I scrunched up several layers of the flowers to give them dimension.

Lastly I assembled the corsage on a paper Dollie. I added some leaves, a few loops of ribbon and a vintage looking key I found at Joann's. I added a couple of pins so Mom can attach it to her shirt.

Book Review: The Help

Even though I read on a Kindle, I still like to go to the book store and look at books. I like to look at the covers and read the back of the book. I had picked up this book several times, but just now had downloaded it to my Kindle. It took me a long time to read this book. I kept thinking "this is going to turn out bad and I don't want to know" so I wouldn't read. That doesn't mean that it wasn't a good book, it was a good book! This is the story of black maids/nannies in Jackson Mississippi in the early 60's. Just when the civil rights movements were taking place. The book tells the stories of several maids and the hard life that they were living. The work was hard, and their employers were even harder. It also tells of how much the maids love the families and children they took care of despite how horrible they were treated. The maids are telling their stories to a white lady in secret and she in turns writes a book in secret. They sneak around and live in fear while telling their stories. The tension in the book builds and builds and then in the end it turns out OK. The book kinda just ends, and I wish that maybe more good would have come from them telling their stories!

Spring Umbrella

Hard to tell in the photos, but I added some small sparkles to the umbrella! It makes it so shinny! I am very ready for spring, for some rain! We haven't had any rain or moisture since October! I have take my umbrella out of my purse and my car. It all ways seems that when it rains I never have an umbrella, so my thinking is that if I purposely don't have one then maybe it will rain?

Easter's on it's way~I know there is a song that says something like that! I really wanted to use some little white pom-poms for the tail, but I didn't have any so I used a big brad! And notice the word hop? I just used the masking technique for the "e" in hope!

1/2 cup light corn syrup

1/3 cup of sugar

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

2 1/2 cup chow mein noodles

2 cups chex cereal, lightly crushed

malted eggs

combine butterscotch chips, syrup, peanut butter and sugar. Microwave in 30 second intervals till smooth. Stir mixture into noodles and cereal until coated. Quickly shape small balls into nests and add chocolate eggs. Makes about a dozen nests

I plan to give these to some friends down the street, I cut a nest and branch from my cricut. I added a stamped bird.
